Just had to get rid of one of them last year! LOL That was also the year of the infamous TREE!!! (I blogged about it a few days back! FUNNY)

When I was 16 I asked my parents for a hope chest (most 16-year-old today probably don't even know what this is). They told me they didn't have the money for it because we had just moved into my grandmother's house while we looked for a house of our own. Well, on Christmas morning we opened all of our presents and my parents asked me to go into the kitchen. When I walked in the kitchen, there sat the hope chest I had asked for. :)

ReplyDeleteThe best gift I ever got is pretty much just a memory. Long ago, I was one of those obnoxious children. You know the kind. I wanted my Christmas gifts early. I snooped trying to find out what they were. I just wanted to open ONE gift on Christmas Eve. Just ONE! Mom always said no. But apparently the one year, I irritated her enough that she got revenge.
ReplyDeleteChristmas morning, I got a present wrapped in newspaper. How sad, right? Uh. Huh. About half an hour later I think I finally had all of the layers of newspaper, christmas paper, boxes, etc finally removed. I don't even really remember what the gift was, but I do remember all of us laughing so much at the insanity of the sheer number of layers I needed to unwrap.

I'd had 'Do They Know It's Christmas' ceaselessly turning on my record player for three weeks. And I woke up Christmas morning, there was a brand new Duran Duran poster on my door. My 17 year old sister had put it there in the night. So for Christmas that year? I got a reminder that *someone* understood me.
