New Bakeshop Tutorial & a pattern giveaway! CLOSED

Hey everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Today I have a new tutorial posted on Moda Bakeshop. I worked as a barista in college so it's only fitting that I do a tutorial with Java fabric, right? I know not everyone is a coffee drinker but inside the tutorial are instructions for a 1 seam flying geese block. It makes cute little pockets- tons of possibilities there.  If you have a moment, I'd appreciate if you checked it out and left some comment love over at the Bake Shop (seriously, I might have a self esteem crisis if you don't!) ;)

I usually do a giveaway on the day of an MBS tutorial but after my three boys had to accompany me to the post office during the pre-Christmas craziness I don't think I want to show my face there just yet.  Instead, I am giving one commenter a copy of the PDF pattern of their choice from my etsy shop:

Houndstooth Heritage (a 56x64 lap quilt) featuring bias free construction or

the Helix quilt which includes instructions for baby, lap, or twin size.

To enter to win, just leave a comment on this post telling me what your sewing goals are for 2011.   Mine would probably be having more than 2 patterns in my shop and to finish the packaging for my patterns to be sold in brick/mortar...my Mother-in-law's fave shop, The Village Cloth Shoppe in Dekalb, MS,  is gonna give me a go!  Woo-hoo!

Good luck and have a great New Year!  Giveaway to close January 4....

  1. My sewing goal, for at least the beginning of the year, is to use fabrics in my stash and make the projects I've already started in my head.

  2. Love the tutorial on Moda. Thanks for sharing. My sewing goal for 2011 is to sew *something* every week. Too many weeks go by blog hopping, shopping for fabric and *thinking* about sewing. This year, there will be more *doing*! Happy 2011!

  10. Happy New Year! My sewing goals for 2011 is: to make less UFO's than I finish, to make a nice quilt to myself, to make more patterns than I did in 2010, and to ENJOY!

  11. Happy New Year!
My goals are probably the same as last year! Finish my UFO's and use up more fabric that I buy!

  12. I have so many goals for 2011 I blogged about them. But my number one goal is actually to make lots of curtains for our new house. Hopefully it won't take long so I can get back to quilting!
Congrats on your bakeshop pub, I'm off to see it!

  13. Goal for 2011?

  14. Thanks for the giveaway and happy new year. I'd love to win the double helix pattern - it looks so cool. Quilting goals for this year are to make more smaller projects and get caught up on my BOM.

  15. My goals for this year is to get my in the works projects done! We are getting 2 more grandbabies this year and I will be making quilts for them. One will make his debut on the 5th and we are going to see him later in the month. I have a few quilts that I really want to make. Before I can accomplish all of this, our house will be finished and we can move in the end of Jan or beginning of Feb. So it's a busy time for us.
I would love to win one of the patterns. Thank you for the give a way!

  16. I sew for work so it is hard to just sew for fun at the end of the day. That would be my goal, to sew for fun just for me, good for the soul and good for the UFO pile.

  17. I love your patterns - both are so unique and pretty.

    A few of my goals:
    Complete a quilt each month
Complete a non-quilting craft project monthly
    Learn to applique
Learn to free motion - even if just a small project
And try a small project of paper pieced hexagons

  18. My sewing goals for 2011 are to get some UFOs done. I have an art quilt to finish and I have 3 traditional quilts, 2 applique projects and a lap quilt for my Dad to do. When I stop to think about it I guess what I really need to do in 2011 is schedule quilting time, that is the only way it is going to get done. Happy 2011!

  20. If I took the time to type out ALL of my goals for this year...well...I could probably finish one of those projects ;)
The biggest (and 1st) goal is to make the t-shirt quilt I've been promising my son for almost 2 yrs.
Happy New Year & I really want that Houndstooth pattern. Might have to go buy it.

  21. My goals are to work through a big part of my stash and to finish at least 7 quilts. Both of these goals are huge for me! : )

  22. I made a list of things I want to try this year. It includes things like curved piecing, paper piecing, dresden plates, and making a quilt with a color I find hard to work with. I also set UFO completion goals, and I set a goal for making charity quilts. I posted my list on my blog for the year, but I've posted a virtual sticky note on the computer desktop so I can see what I want work on each month. I know if I don't have it right in my face, I won't be able to keep it in my head!!
Thanks for sharing your bounty with your readers!

  23. Great tutorial on Moda Bake Shop! So cute! My goal is to quilt something bigger than a baby quilt. I'm fairly new to quilting and it intimidates me to think of making anything bigger. I just need to do it! Also, I just purchased a new sofa and now want to make new curtains, pillows, throws, etc. So excited!!! Keep up the great work and thanks so much for teaching us who want to learn more!!!:)

  24. I so want to learn FMQ. I just can't get the hang of it.

  25. I followed your bakeshop tutorial to your blog. The patterns look beautiful!

My goals for this year include finishing a circular bargello quilt that has been untouched for 2+ years, and quilting a lap sized sampler and queen sized 9-patch quilt.

Also, buying less and sewing more - to help save up for an upgraded machine.

    Thanks for hosting this giveaway.

  26. I loved the story of your Christmas miracle. We need more stories like that :). My quilting goals for 2011 are just more, more, more quilting!!

  27. First and foremost: to finish my first quilt! My machine couldn't handle the sandwich...but I got a screamin' deal on a machine that can. So that's goal 1. Then to get moving on quilt tops for charity...which is why I took up quilting in the first place. :)Started my first one this week!
